At ten years old, Michael P. Vidler was making films starring his family and editing using two VCRs in the attic. Decades later, he is an award-winning director and writer whose work has been recognized across mediums. Recent works have been showcased at internationally renowned festivals including VIFF, Foyle Film Festival and FIN Atlantic. Much of his work has gone on to distribution with DirecTV, Amazon Prime and CBC.
His short films have garnered many accolades including seven Leo Award nominations and one Leo Award (2019) for Agam Darshi’s performance in Unkept. Michael’s most recent short Deeper I Go won Hiro Kanagawa the UBCP/ACTRA Award (2021) for Best Supporting Actor. Michael has also won the Best Director Award (2019) and the Best Short Award (2019, 2020) at the Chilliwack Independent Film Festival.
Aside from his narrative work, Michael has worked on commercials for clients such as Sportsnet, Scotiabank and ICBC, and created music videos for artists including Missy D and Living With Lions. Michael continues to work with diverse film styles and formats, while seeking out opportunities to grow and evolve as a filmmaker.
